a film without an ending
Dear Sally:

If I am not mistaken, "The Tango Lesson" starts out with a sequence about a fashion shoot... This film within a film captured my imagination in so many ways. So much so that I have often wondered if you will re-visit, and perhaps "end" this fascinating story.

In some ways that sequence seems like the beginning of the film "Portrait of a Lady," in that neither have much to do with the body of the film at hand... but are entirely captivating and totally magical.

What do you think?

thanks
bruce

p.s... I couldn't get enough of "Orlando" when it came out, & I still think it is one of the most original and fascinating movies I have ever seen... I could go on and on... but it is simply amazing

thankyou for your lovely remarks. the 'film within the film' was called 'rage' and it was a full-length screenplay. I wrote it before 'The tango lesson' and then stepped - danced?- sideways. I occasionally get the script out of the drawer and wonder...
but in the meantime it only exists as that imaginary fragment.

I haven't seen any of your latest films, I live in nowhere's-ville, (otherwise known as Fort Bragg, California,) so I can't comment on them... although I am sure they are wonderful... hope to see Yes, in a couple of months, when our theatre does their Indie films.

I really did love "Tango Lesson" - It was something I really appreciated... I don't think I will ever be a dancer, but that film taught me something about movement and music, and how it can be combined in a film... so that an entire movie can be a kind of dance.

But please, I beg you, somehow you need to do that other film! I am haunted even by the few images of that story, and hope I can someday see its full play on the screen... The fact that you sometimes dust of the screenplay and wonder, means that you must have some of that feeling as well.

I hope I don't sound too much like a zombie-groupie-stalker... I am really just a passionate film nut.

thanks again
